Swatch | Croco Nails by Barry M

Hi there dears!

Remember the post in which I swatched my Barry M magnetic nail polish? I got two different Barry M nail polishes from my sister as a Sinterklaas-present. This time I'm showing you how the crocodile crack polish by Barry M works, because it takes a little more patience and practice than just regular crackle nail polish. I will also show you the difference between using a thin or a thick layer.

The following picture shows how it looked when I was done. It actually looks a tad better in real life, because my lightening wasn't really optimal. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it better. But you can still see how it turned out.

And here's how you do it.

First, you paint your nails in your desired colour. I used a very nude colour with a bit of sparkle. Wait until your nails are dry!

The bottle says you have to apply a thin coat of the croco polish. I also tried a thicker layer, just to see what the difference would be. Left: thin coat, right: thick coat. You now have to be very patient! Don't think it doesn't work, because it actually takes 3 minutes before the effect starts appearing. Just in case, I waited about 30 minutes before applying a top coat.

And this is the result! On the left you see the result with the thin layer and the result with the thicker layer on the right. As you can see, the crocodile effect is more clear where I used the thicker layer. The upper and lower finger in the left picture (thin layer) didn't really turn out that well.

Therefore I advice you to use a thicker layer, like I did on the right, to get a better effect!

All in all, I think it's a cool effect. It doesn't look as much crocodile as I thought it would, but it still looks nice. And I think you should apply a thicker layer than the bottle suggests, to get a better effect!

What do you think of this polish?

  1. This looks so classy actuallly! I didn't like the crackle nail polish trend, but I do like this! I saw it at Dior and I was just waiting for a mire budget proof one. Do they come in different colours or just this dark one?

Feel free to leave a comment! I read them all and I will answer your questions here or on your blog!
